January and February have been an exciting start to our year here in Costa Rica. We have met some truly wonderful people, and have had the pleasure of hosting several group retreats. In January, professional photographer Cynthia Delaney, led a workshop to capture some of the spectacular scenes of AmaTierra and the surrounding parks and nature reserves.

Last week, Janis Ericson of Lightwork Seminars, taught a seminar on Theta Healing called Healing the Healer. Feeling the energy of the Crystals they used made us long for the annual Tucson Gem Show, which was actually going on the same week!

It occurs to us that wellness, balance and healing are not limited to body/mind therapies or herbal formulas and organic foods. Indeed, opening our minds to a wider array of activities that touch our Spirits through beauty and creativity can truly feed our souls.

AmaTierra is a place to teach, to learn, and to experience the beauty and culture of a far-away land, whether through a camera lens or a healing crystal. It is a place to regain your balance, and above all, to share yourself with others.

After two years of planning, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our new studio on March 1.  It is a beautiful, open- air design with hardwood teak floors and a balcony that looks out over the Turrubares Valley.  Practice yoga in the morning calm and the fading light of sunset, and you will feel like you are the only one around for miles, hovering above the open valley.

I have put together a special yoga workshop for teachers and students alike to come and share this special event with us.  We will practice yoga every day in the morning and late afternoon, experiencing a range of styles, including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, "Gaia" and Iyengar, suitable for all levels and abilities.
