Building, Reflecting, and Looking Ahead
Greetings! These are exciting times here at
AmaTierra as we finalize the design for the new yoga studio,a feng-shui happy, open-air
octagon designed for yoga practice with treatment rooms for
state-of-the-art wellness therapies. It occurs to us, as we move forward
to embrace our mission to help people achieve greater balance and harmony, to
reflect on the metamorphosis that is taking place here. We are evolving from
being a hotel into a becoming a full retreat and
wellness center. "Poco a poco" (little by little) is the way of the
Latin American culture, and as our roots grow deeper into the community, we
Americans, who are used to everything being faster and more efficient, are
finally "getting it!" and appreciating that results come at a slower, more
organic pace.
 Pictured here is
the newly completed
house intended for our maintenance and security employees, and to house a
visiting tour guide or retreat leader. It
makes us happy to know we will be pumping excess water from the spring to this
new house without using electricity, and we will heat the water with
sunlight.
 We are thrilled to
be in this exciting phase of development and we are deeply grateful to all of
our partners, friends, family and guests who have helped to make the dream of
Costa Rica become real. AmaTierra is not the idea of one person, but the vision
of many, buoyed by YOUR energy. Together we are creating a new paradigm. And in
keeping with our commitment to the community, we are initiating Fundacion
AmaTierra to help the people of our little pueblo of San Pablo. We'll write more
about that, and how you can help, very soon.

In the
Garden
Chilis,
tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro...all so fresh! But even in a place where plants
thrive, there are challenges to overcome and there is much to learn. We have
been working closely with
the Ministry of Agriculture to create the right balance of healthy soil
for our organic garden. How wonderful that these experienced hombres (pictured
here) are available to help us!
